For those people who
have oily skin they will know that it means
more than just having a shiny face. Oily skin can present many
other problems if it is not managed such as the outbreak of
spots, acne and other skin blemishes. It is therefore very
important to adopt a practical skin care regime in order to
prevent any such outbreaks from developing.
Oily skin happens when the glands within the skin are producing
more oils than the surface of the skin can tolerate, and because
of this the skin is constantly very shiny, and the pores of the
skin are often very enlarged. There is no single reason as to
why this happens, but generally oily skin is a result of
hormonal changes, puberty, pregnancy, poor diet and even the
skin care products being used, could be causing aggravation with
the skin.
No one is immune to having oily skin, and it can just as well
appear in adults as it can with teenagers. But oily skin is
generally more common in teenagers, and the result is that the
condition of the skin improves over time, and this comes about
in a natural state, without the real need to actually do
anything.
One of the best tips if you have oily skin is to wash the skin
using a face wash that is specifically designed for oily skin.
It is important that you do not wash the skin too often as this
will cause a drying effect, therefore making the glands
compensate.
Any face wash that you do use should be anti-bacterial and
actually help in controlling the levels of oils that are
produced. Above all make sure that the face wash you use is free
from alcohol as this does no more than make the skin become dry.
If the skin is dry, then the glands will over compensate and
therefore more oils will be produced.
You should also make sure that you are cleaning your pillow
cases on a regular basis as they will soak any excess oils and
when you sleep the oil is just being applied to your face again.
Other simples steps that you can action if you have oily skin is
that you can carry clean tissues with you to help blot any
excess oils that may be on the surface of the skin. This will
help prevent the skin from looking shiny and you are also less
likely to attract any excess dirt or bacteria to the skin which
is very common with oily skin.
When it comes to using oily skin care products it is important
not to use creams and lotions that will leave any surface
residue on the skin. Try to use natural lotions and creams that
rely upon plants and essential oils, and as mentioned already
that are free from alcohol.
As well as looking after your skin externally you need to also
look after it internally and this means eating foods that are
high in vitamins and mineral. You can still eat chocolate but
you need to restrict the quantity that you eat. Drink lots of
fresh water and home made fruit juices and it will not be long
before you see an improvement in the appearance of your skin.
