Important Recommendations
You've
probably heard this before: trim your wick to ½” or even
1/4” inch before each lighting. Toenail clippers work
great for this, especially as the wax burns down the jar.
The
first burn, be sure to burn about 2-4 hours. Don’t burn
longer than 6 hours.
Always
burn your candle at least 1 hour, or long enough to reach a
full melt pool (larger candles will need to be longer).
Extinguish
your candle when it is within ½ inch of the bottom, do not
burn it down further, the candle is done.
If your
flame gets too large (usually after it's been burning
awhile), extinguish the candle, trim your wick, then
relight.
Use a
bent paperclip to drown your wick in the melt pool of wax
for a method to extinguish your candle with no smoke.
Place
your candle in a draft-free area, to discourage smoking and to help it burn evenly. If you can see the flame
flickering, you should move the candle to another location
with less air movement.
If
after a burn, the candles look bumpy or flaky on top, that’s
a normal texture for soy sometimes.
Keep
the wax pool free of foreign objects, such as matches and
wick trimmings.
Never
leave a burning candle unattended. Never forget a lit candle
is fire.
Be
aware of surroundings when burning (curtains nearby, etc),
keep the area clear.
Keep
burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Ensure
that flammable materials are removed from the vicinity of
the flame.
Always
place your candle on a non-flammable surface.
